DIY: Porch Makeover

porch-makeover

When we bought our house I loved that it had a double decker “party” porch.

When we moved in it had green turf carpet, the screens were covered in plastic and the wood paneling was starting to warp. We immediately ripped up the green carpet and removed the plastic from the screens in our initial house demo. This got us through a few years. This year, the wood paneling started to fall off,  get moldy and just fall apart. Not to mention our demon dog [Darth] tried to chew his way through the house. It was time for a face lift.

If you have a porch and it’s starting to look a little dingy or dated, follow these easy steps to give it a brand new look that’s easier on the budget than an entire new porch!  Continue reading

Mr. ONEderful – First Birthday Party

15085537_10102096185304977_5263577617091106180_n.jpg

A few weeks ago, my baby boy turned one. ONE. Excuse me while I go wipe the tears from my eyes. I am so excited for the little man he is becoming but miss my little, snuggly baby. Watching him grow and learn has been the most wonderful experience.

Now, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a first birthday party, or even where to begin to plan throwing one. Children can be very unpredictable with their moods, do you serve alcohol, how long should it last, do people really wanna watch him ‘open gifts’ [eat the paper].

After all the stress and craziness – it ended up being the perfect day and truly a ONEderful party. See all the details here!  Continue reading

Toddler’s First Fall Bucket List

fall

Fall is everyone favorite season, right? Football, weather is perfect [most of the time], all the best holidays, the list is endless. I always see these awesome fall bucket lists, but after looking into them more they aren’t reasonable with a baby/toddler. No baby wants to go apple picking! So I’ve made our very own ‘Toddler’s First Fall Bucket List’.

Follow along with us below, I’ll be updating the list as we complete it!

  • Make homemade apple sauce & enjoy it’s deliciousness
  • Pick & carve the very first pumpkin
  • Play with pumpkin guts & toast the seeds
  • Have a bonfire & roast s’mores
  • Meet out of town family
  • Go trick-or-treating
  • Go on a nature walk
  • Finger paint with fall colors
  • Have a first birthday!
  • Enjoy a Thanksgiving feast

What are some of your favorite fall activities?

How To: Chalkboard Art Tutorial

img_4751

Chalk art makes my heart happy.

This week has been crazy, and it’s only Wednesday. Sure a glass of wine [or 3] at night can help to de-stress after a long day, but sometimes I like to start the day off relaxed by letting my creative juices flow. A little chalk dust and a few cups of coffee later and I was ready to start my day.

I’ve posted previously how to make your own chalkboard wall, but I figured I’d do a quick tutorial on how I actually create my chalkboard art for the average person. [let’s be real – no one has time or sanity for that elaborate fancy shit] I’ve seen people print out their designs and cover the back of the paper lightly with chalk dust then trace over it, I prefer to do mine all by hand. I find it therapeutic to see what you picture in your head come to life.

Dynamic Sonic Instant Eye Lift: Review

Under eye bags. Dark circles. Wrinkles. Fine lines. All things aging women [or men] never want to hear. About 2 years ago I realized I needed to start putting some thought and care into my face routine. I couldn’t just fall asleep with my makeup on after a long night out anymore. Enter Gunnar and you get one tired face that doesn’t have time most days to be bothered with make-up to attempt to cover the above issues.

Like anyone, I’m always skeptical of any product that promises “instant results”, but when I was offered to try the Dynamic Sonic Instant Eye Lift – I couldn’t not try, right? Continue reading

Green Smoothie: Recipe & Meal Prep

Smoothie-pin.jpg

I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it a few more times…

Green smoothies are my favorite go-to breakfast!

They’re quick, easy, filling and best of all, healthy! [this smoothie is right under 300 calories] But they aren’t so quick & easy if you have to slice & dice all your fruits and such in the morning, not to mention not all of those fruits will last long enough for you to make all your smoothies [damn you perishable items]. So here is my take on how to “meal prep” your smoothies ahead of time – ensuring they’re always quick, easy and oh so tasty! Continue reading
